π Year 3's Perfect Pizza Adventure! π
Date: 30th Sep 2026 @ 9:09pm
This week, as part of our Design and Technology topic, Perfect Pizzas, Year 3 enjoyed an exciting trip to Pizza Express to discover how pizzas are made.
For some of the children, this was their very first visit to a restaurant, making the day even more special! We travelled by bus into Manchester, full of excitement and ready for our culinary adventure.
When we arrived, we washed our hands and transformed into real pizza chefs by putting on aprons and chef hats. The Pizza Express chef had already prepared the pizza bases for us, and we carefully added tomato passata and cheese. We then had the opportunity to personalise our pizzas by choosing whether to add a delicious mixture of oregano, herbs, pepper and garlic oil.
While our pizzas were cooking, we learned lots of fascinating facts about the history of pizza and how restaurants prepare food for their customers. It was wonderful to see how much thought and skill goes into making the perfect pizza.
The best part of the day was finally tasting our creations! We took our freshly baked pizzas to Exchange Square, where we enjoyed eating them together beside the fountains in the sunshine. There were plenty of smiles as everyone proudly tucked into the pizzas they had made themselves.
Before heading back to school, we took a short walk around Manchester, spotting some famous landmarks that will inspire our Art topic next half term. It was a fantastic opportunity to explore the city and learn more about the world around us.
The children were a credit to the school throughout the trip, showing excellent behaviour, enthusiasm and curiosity. We all had a wonderful day and came back with full tummies, happy memories and lots of new knowledge about making pizzas!
