Year 2 Number Talk: Part-Whole Word Problems

This morning, Year 2 took part in an exciting Number Talk Zoom session, focusing on deconstructing part-whole word problems.

The session gave the children a fantastic opportunity to develop their mathematical thinking and problem-solving skills. They explored how to break down word problems, identify the important information and recognise how the parts and the whole are connected.

Through discussion and shared thinking, the children were encouraged to explain their ideas, listen to different strategies and think carefully about how to solve each problem. It was a wonderful opportunity to build their confidence in maths and develop their understanding of how we can use what we already know to help us solve new challenges.

The children engaged brilliantly throughout the session and showed great enthusiasm for their learning.

A huge well done to Year 2 for their fantastic participation! We are proud of the way they approached this challenge and look forward to continuing to develop our mathematical reasoning skills in the classroom.
