World Mental Health Day 2025- Mount Carmel Get Talking!
Date: 12th Oct 2025 @ 4:23pm

On Friday 10th October, Mount Carmel celebrated World Mental Health Day with a special whole-school focus on the theme: ‘Mount Carmel Get Talking!’ The day was all about recognising the importance of communication for our mental health – talking, listening, and understanding each other.
KS2: Exploring Communication
The day began with a KS2 assembly led by Kate Brown, introducing the theme and encouraging children to reflect on how we communicate and how it makes us feel.
Back in class, pupils worked in groups to create posters on:
-
How I communicate
-
How communication makes me feel
-
A creative class front page linked to the day’s theme

Each class’s work was displayed in the hall, and in the afternoon, pupils took part in a gallery walk to view everyone’s contributions.

Instead of traditional homework, children were asked to share what they had learned with family and friends, helping to extend the message beyond the classroom.
EYFS and KS1: Expressions and Emotions
In the afternoon, Kate led assemblies for Reception, Year 1 and 2 , focusing on facial expressions and how we show our feelings. Pupils then completed an activity sheet to help them connect emotions with expression – a lovely way to begin talking about feelings at an early age.
A Positive and Powerful Day
From the youngest to the oldest, pupils across Mount Carmel embraced the theme of talking for mental health. The creativity and enthusiasm shown in every classroom made it a truly memorable day. Let’s keep talking – and keep looking out for each other.
