Autumn Term 2- Ancient Egyptian Homework

Dear Parents/Carers,

This half term the children will be studying Ancient Egypt. Therefore, I would like to challenge the children to be creative and take responsibility for their own learning at home.

I would like the children to select one of the following tasks and make it their own. The children will then present their homework to the class and discuss what they created, what software they used, what they learnt and finally what they enjoyed about their homework.

I would like the children to have time to create their masterpiece, so for that reason, I am giving them until Friday 30^th November 2018.

Here are a few ideas:

• D.T. Cook some food inspired by ancient Egypt. Send me pictures or a video to show me how you made it.

• History Produce a fact file (Ipad or paper based) all about ancient Egypt. Think about: The Nile, Pyramids, clothes, food, gods and houses etc.

• Maths/English Visit a travel agent and explore modern Egypt. Plan a family holiday including costing. Then create a travel brochure to advertise your holiday.

• D.T. Make a mask or headdress for one of the Egyptian Gods or princesses.

• English/Computing Create a newspaper report about Howard carter’s discovery of Tutankhamen’s tomb. (Ipad or paper based)

• D.T./Maths/English Create a game about a ancient Egypt. Remember to research as much information as possible. Don’t forget the game instructions!

• D.T. Make some Egyptian Jewellery.

• Maths Design a map of a Pharaoh’s tomb. Write a set of compass directions to get to the centre to find the treasure. Don’t forget to include hidden traps!

• History/Computing Use Kahoot to create quiz all about ancient Egypt.

• Art Draw or paint a picture of something linked to ancient Egypt.

• Music The Egyptians loved music and dance. Create your own piece of Egyptian music or a dance and video it.

• History/English Research the ancient Egyptian hieroglyphic alphabet and use it to create a short poem/ story.

• Create a powerpoint presentation 

• ANYTHING FROM YOUR OWN CREATIVE IDEAS
