The Ducklings first swim
Date: 18th Mar 2026 @ 11:34am
This week our ducklings have enjoyed their first ever swim. When the ducklings returned from their weekend stay with Mrs Wally, they had grown so much! We could not believe it. On Tuesday, we filled the water tray and let them have their first swim. They loved it!!! The children watched in awe as the ducklings swooped and dived in the water, flapping their wings and kicking their feet. The ducklings loved cleaning their feathers and jumping from the shallow edge to the deeper water.
During this time, we also spoke about how we have been helping to look after the ducklings whilst in our care. The children knew they needed fresh food and water and they also knew that we have to keep the cage clean as that is where the ducklings go to the toilet. Mrs Coogan scooped out the dirty sawdust and cleaned the tray, before the children sprinkled in some fresh clean sawdust, gave them fresh food and water and we put the ducklings back in their clean cage. They made sounds of joy as they huddled together to get warm again after their swim. What fun they had!
