Spring 1 wk 2 w/c 11/01/21 home learning

Date: 10th Jan 2021 @ 10:03pm

Good morning everyone!

Please find below a list of the activities we will be doing this week along with our daily zoom sessions.

Rhyme of the week
I’m a little Penguin (to the tune of ‘I’m a little teapot’)

Literacy
We will be starting our new topic this week - Arctic explorers. Our first text is called ‘Be Brave Little Penguin’ by Giles Andreae and Giles Parker-Rees. Have a look at the illustrations on the front cover and talk to your grown up about what you think the story will be about. Ask your grown up to share the title of our story too. What do you think being brave means? Can you draw a picture of what you think will happen? We will be reading a few pages of our text each day and talking more about what is happening and finding out all about penguins too.
* From Tuesday, prerecorded literacy sessions will be uploaded to Tapestry memos and the nursery pages on the website. These sessions will focus on sharing and talking about our key text.

Maths
This week we will continue to recap numerals one to five and their matching quantities. We will also introduce numeral 6 and look at different ways to represent number six. From Monday, daily prerecorded maths sessions will be uploaded to Tapestry memos and the nursery pages on our website.

Phonics sessions and dough disco will take place on the 11:30 a.m. zoom call. This half term we will be introducing the children to the idea of rhyme and alliteration. This week we will be sharing lots of rhyming stories and games.

Topic - this will be taught alongside our key literacy text. This week will be finding out all about penguins.
Challenges:-
1)What can you find out about penguins?
2) Draw a picture of a Penguin and ask a grown up to help you to label the parts of its body.
*We will share what we have found out during our zoom lesson on Thursday afternoon.

PSE - we will be thinking about how, just like snowflakes we are all unique. Whole nursery zoom on Tue 3:00 pm with Mrs Flanagan.
Challenge - create your own paper snowflake ❄️

Daily to do list - we have listed some activities that you can do with your child everyday (or whenever you get chance). These are activities that we would be encouraging children to practise during this half term in nursery.

Daily zooms will take place at 11:30am and 3:00pm with your child’s class teacher. Please keep an eye on Tapestry observations for meeting details. We will also send a text with these details via School Spider.

Many Thanks
The Nursery Team
