Resilience with Kate
Date: 24th Sep 2026 @ 9:28am
On Friday, Year 3 began an exciting journey with Kate as we started learning about resilience and how our brains help us manage challenges and emotions. We discovered the different parts of the brain, including the amygdala, the cortex, and the limbic system, and learned about the important roles they play in our thoughts, feelings, and actions.
We then listened to the story of Little Meerkat, who faced a difficult situation when she fell asleep whilst on lookout duty and woke up to find that all the other meerkats had disappeared. The children thoughtfully discussed how Little Meerkat might have felt and reflected on the courage and determination she showed. We were delighted when Little Elephant and Little Monkey helped her search for her friends, reminding us of the importance of kindness, teamwork, and supporting one another when times are tough.
This session gave us a wonderful opportunity to think about how we can cope with challenges and learn from our mistakes. Throughout the year, we will continue working with Kate, exploring practical ways to develop our own resilience, build confidence, and grow into strong, positive learners who are ready to tackle anything that comes their way. We are looking forward to learning more together on this exciting journey! ✨🧠💛
