Rabbits’ visit to Smithills Farm 2026

Reception Rabbits were very excited about our trip to Smithills Farm. The sun was shining, the sky was blue and we knew we were going to have an amazing day!

After getting off the coach, we lined up patiently waiting to ride on the bumpy tractor ride which was lots of fun. As we chugged up the hill, we saw sheep, lambs and horses. Once we had arrived at the top of the hill, the donkeys came over to the tractor and we were given a piece of bread each to feed to the donkeys. They loved it! Afterwards, we went into the barn to feed the cheeky goats, sheep and alpacas. The children were so brave at feeding them, especially as the animals' tongues tickled their hands! The children loved their donkey ride, smiles were beaming across their faces.

At Pets' Corner, the children held and stroked chicks and rabbits; they stroked pigmy goats, lambs, and alpacas and saw baby emu's running around. It was wonderful to see these animals and to feel how soft an alpaca's coat is. We went to the milking parlour where we watched the Jersey cows being milked.

On the coach home, some of Receptionfell asleep after an exciting and fun filled day! We made lots of great memories.
