Owls visit to Smithills Farm 2026

Date: 27th Apr 2026 @ 10:42am

Reception Owls were very excited about our trip to Smithills Farm. The sun was shining, the sky was blue and we knew we were going to have an amazing day!

After getting off the coach, we lined up patiently waiting to ride on the donkeys. The children absolutely loved it, their faces were beaming with joy and they enjoyed stroking the donkeys. Afterwards, we went on the bumpy tractor ride; it was lots of fun. As we chugged up the hill, we saw sheep, lambs and horses. Once we had arrived at the top of the hill, the donkeys came over to the tractor and we were given a piece of bread each to feed to the donkeys. They loved it!

At Pets' Corner, the children held and stroked chicks and rabbits; they stroked pigmy goats, lambs, and alpacas and saw baby emu's running around. It was wonderful to see these animals and to feel how soft an alpaca's coat is. We went to the milking parlour where we watched the Jersey cows being milked.

On the coach home, some of  Reception fell asleep after an exciting and fun filled day! We made lots of great memories.

Thank you Smithills Farm.
