Our Local Walk: Houses

Reception have been learning about different types of houses and homes, so what better way to put our learning into action than to walk around our local area! We ventured out with our clipboards, sheets and pencils and became house detectives as we matched and identified the photos on our sheets with the life size houses. The children were so enthusiastic at applying their learning they were able to recognise: terrace, semi-detached, detached, flats, bungalow, cottage, quasi-detached and we even saw a caravan! It was amazing to find all of these different types of houses within a quarter of a mile of our school. The children enjoyed exploring where they lived and they began to understand that the houses were built at different times.
