Our Artist: Kandinsky
Date: 26th Feb 2026 @ 9:12pm
This week in Reception, the children have been learning about the artist Wassily Kandinsky and his painting of concentric circles. The children were shown how to use the primary colours: red, blue and yellow to make circles then they were shown how to colour mix the paint to create new colours. It has been wonderful to watch the children experimenting with their colour mixing and creating wonderful paintings in the style of Kandinsky. Children have also enjoyed creating concentric circles in the loose parts area where they have used different sizes of lids and buttons. The children have looked at the examples and have very carefully followed them or made their own creation. Also, in our creative area, the children have used oil pastels to create concentric circles using a variety of colours. We are looking forward to developing more of these skills!
