Design and Technology Fun – Moving Monsters! 👾

Today in Design and Technology, the children had a fantastic time bringing their moving monsters to life!

Over the past half term, we have been learning all about pneumatic systems and how different objects use air to make things move. The children explored this idea and thought carefully about how they could use air to create movement in their own designs.

First, we planned our monsters, thinking about how they would look and how they would move. Today, we began by making a prototype of our pneumatic system using tubing, a balloon, sellotape, and a balloon pump. It was exciting to see how air could be used to create movement!

Next, we followed our plans to transform burger boxes into our very own creative monsters. Finally, we added our pneumatic systems so that our monsters could open and close their mouths—such a fun and impressive effect!

The children worked carefully and creatively throughout the lesson and showed fantastic enthusiasm. It was wonderful to see their ideas come to life, and they should all be very proud of their amazing moving monsters!
