Investigating how Microorganisms Reproduce

Date: 3rd Oct 2025 @ 6:44pm

Microorganisms Investigation 2025.jpg

As part of our science topic, Living Things and Their habitats, Y6C have been investigating how microorganisms reproduce.

We squashed dry and wet hands into slices of bread then placed them in different environments. We chose the hot radiator; the warm, dark cupboard; and the freezer. We then monitored which environment caused the bread to develop visible microorganisms the quickest.

Our results revealed that the wet bread in the cupboard created the most microorganisms because the environment was dark and warm. The bread in the freezer did not reveal any visible microorganisms. We discovered this was because microorganisms cannot reproduce in environments below 0°C.
