🌟 Exploring the Mystery of the Holy Trinity in Year 3

Date: 13th May 2026 @ 11:28am

This week in Religion, our Year 3 children have been joyfully exploring one of the greatest mysteries of our Catholic faith — the Holy Trinity. Together, we wondered about how God can be three persons in one: God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit

To help us understand this beautiful mystery, the children worked with three different coloured ribbons. Each ribbon represented one person of the Trinity, and the children chose their colours with great thought and care. Once they had chosen, they braided their ribbons together — a simple but powerful symbol of how the Father, Son and Holy Spirit are distinct, yet completely united in love.

Their reflections were thoughtful, creative and deeply moving. Here are just a few examples of the wonderful insights they shared:

  • Wilfred chose green for God the Father to show how He created the world, red for Jesus to represent His precious blood, and white for the Holy Spirit as a symbol of the dove. He shaped his braid into a circle, reminding us that God has no beginning and no end.

  • Timileyon selected blue for God the Father who created the sky and oceans, white for Jesus because He was free from sin, and orange for the Holy Spirit to represent the flames of Pentecost.

  • Nova chose blue for the Father because He made the sea, pink for Jesus to show His great love for us, and white for the Holy Spirit as the dove who brings peace.

  • Chizi shaped her braid into a heart, a beautiful reminder that God loves us deeply and is always with us.

Each child’s braid became a unique expression of faith — a small, colourful reminder of a very big mystery. It has been inspiring to see how thoughtfully the children engaged with this activity and how confidently they shared their ideas.

As always, we encourage you to continue these conversations at home. Ask your child which colours they chose and why. Their explanations may surprise you and will certainly warm your heart.

Together, we continue to grow in faith, wonder and love.

Welcome to Mount Carmel RC Primary; a place where we proclaim Christ’s message of hope and celebrate the uniqueness of each child.
