Expanded Column Subtraction

Date: 12th Oct 2026 @ 7:51am

Last week, 4S sunk their teeth into another exciting method of column subtraction, only this time, they expanded the integers. The children worked wonderfully well and put lots of effort into understanding a method which can often be tricky.

The lesson tasks were broken down into three different groups and were heavily adapted, but the entire class completed them all and showcased (once again!) their fantastic skills in numeracy.

We have one more lesson to complete on Expanded Column Subtraction, before we turn our attention back to understanding time intervals.

Well done, everyone! :)
