Baking Bread!

Date: 19th Oct 2026 @ 4:22pm

Last week, Year 6 became bakers for the day and made bread from scratch. There was plenty of flour, fun and a few messy hands along the way!
First, we measured the ingredients carefully. Then we mixed and kneaded the dough. Some children looked like expert bakers, while others looked as though they were wrestling a giant lump of dough!
Over lunchtime, we left the dough to prove. When we came back, it had grown so much that it looked like it had been doing secret workouts while we were away.
Next, we shaped our bread into rolls, twists and some rather mysterious creations. After a second prove, the bread went into the oven and soon the hall was filled with the delicious smell of fresh baking.
The best part was tasting our bread with butter at the end. We learned that baking needs patience, teamwork and, ideally, a little less flour on the floor than we managed! 🍞🧈

Welcome to Mount Carmel RC Primary; a place where we proclaim Christ’s message of hope and celebrate the uniqueness of each child.
