A Leaf Man's got to go where the wind blows!

Date: 20th Nov 2025 @ 4:34pm

In Literacy, we have been reading Leaf Man by Lois Elhert and learning about the changes in Autumn. Today, we wrapped up warm and went on a walk around Boggart Hole Clough to look for Leaf Man. The children looked carefully for him and repeated the sentence from the story, 'A Leaf Man's got to go where the wind blows,' but we could not find him. Instead, the children found lots of his friends and collected them in their bags. They also learnt the names of the different trees: maple, ash, oak, sycamore and talked about the different shapes and colours of the leaves. Before we collected our leaves, the children counted the different parts of Leaf Man's body and knew they needed to collect 10 leaves. When we returned to school, the children warmed up with a hot chocolate and biscuit. We are very excited to make our very own Leaf Man!
