Reception S (Rabbit Class) 2023 - 2024

Mr Stewart

Welcome to Reception S - Rabbit class

In the EYFS we challenge children to become independent learners and critcial thinkers through our continuous provision and targeted learning challenges. We are very excited to share all the amazing things we do in school with you. Please check out our page for regular updates and photos.

Welcome to Reception S where a love of learning is at the heart of everything we do. The teacher in our classroom is Mr Stewart and the teaching assistants are: Mrs McGuinness, Mrs Ford and Miss Hibbert

Our Class Saint is...

                                                      St. Joseph

St Joseph was the husband of Mary. He was a carpenter or woodworker. The Gospel of Matthew calls him a “righteous man,” meaning he was a committed Jew who followed God's law. On St Joseph's feast day, the children in Reception will dress up as people who help us in our community.

Dedicated story time

In Reception we encourage a love of reading. Each day we have dedicated story time where we read one of our favourite five texts selected for the half term.

Lending Library

Your child will be able to choose a book from our lending library that they can share with you at home. Please see your child's reading record to find out which day they change their book.

Phoneme Cards

Your child will be given flashcards with sounds they are learning in phonics. Please practise saying the phoneme and writing the grapheme every day.

Reading Books

You will be able to access a book on your child's Collins Ebook account every Monday. This book will also be shared in your child's guided reading session twice a week developiong their fluency and comprehension. Your child will also be sent an additional book matched at their phonic ability that they can read at home with you.

Rabbit of the Week

Every Friday a child is chosen to take our class toy rabbit home for the weekend. We encourage parents to take photos of what your child and our rabbit have been doing over the weekend and add them to his adventure book. Then on Monday afternoon the child shares with the class what they have done with rabbit.

Below are copies of our word boxes and high frequency words.
Use your flashcards to make and read the words in the word boxes.
Practise reading and writing the high frequency words.
