Celebrating our Faith
Our faith life is very important at Mount Carmel. We celebrate our faith in many different ways. Look at some of our special events that have taken place during our school year.
Our Lady's Birthday- September 2024
We gathered as a school community in Mount Carmel Church to celebrate Our Lady’s Birthday. We presented a statue of Our Lady with flowers and birthday cards and sang some hymns dedicated to Mary.
Pentecost 2024
Year 4L led us through a special collective worship for the feast of Pentecost.
The Ascension- Thursday 9th May 2024
The Junior department gathered in church to celebrate the feast of the Ascension. This special feast day marks the occasion when Jesus ascended into heaven after his resurrection.
May is the Month Mary 2024
On Tuesday, we gathered in church to celebrate the month of Mary. The children crowned Our Lady with a beautiful crown of flowers. This beautiful service was led and prepared by our GIFT team. In addition to this, Year 5W led school and their parents through a beautiful collective worship to honour the Blessed Virgin Mary and her important role in our faith.
World Earth Day- April 2024
Year 3 led the school and their parents in a beautiful collective worship to mark this occasion. The Y3 children led us through prayer and shared the key messages from Laudato Si, a letter from Pope Francis, about caring for our common home. It wasn’t just Y3 who were involved in the activities for Earth Day, the children in the Infant Department were enthused and engaged and got to work sweeping up, picking up litter and making posters with practical ideas for saving the planet. The children have demonstrated how we are all called to action to look after God’s wonderful world!
Passion Play 2024
The Year 2 children led us through the Easter story from Palm Sunday to Easter Sunday when Jesus rose from the dead.
Stations of the Cross 2024
Our Year 6 children led the Stations of the Cross liturgy across KS2 and this Lenten devotion helped us to reflect prayerfully on Jesus’ final steps on the way to his crucifixion and death.
Lenten Mass (School Hall) 2024
Throughout Lent, in KS2, each year group gathered for a school mass in our school hall. The children gathered to celebrate Mass and spend time with God in prayer.
Junior Advent Penitential Sevice 2023
The Junior children gathered together for a penitential service. In this service we prepared for the coming of Christ by saying sorry and receiving God's forgiveness. Father Clement joined us for this special service.
Ash Wednesday 2024
We gathered as a whole school for Ash Wednesday Mass in church. Additionally, Year 4S led a beautiful collective worship about Lent for their parents and the Junior Department.
Infant Nativities December 2023
The Infant children performed the nativity story for their parents and the Junior children.
Y1 Advent Assembly 2023
Year 1 children helped us to reflect and understand the real meaning of Christmas as they led the most beautiful Advent assembly. This time of preparation for Christmas is most important to us and during Advent, in our school’s collective worship we will be a ‘Witness to the Light' as we get ready to respond, share and worship the birth of Jesus.
Remembrance Service- 10th November 2023
We held two Remembrance services across the school and prayed for peace. The GIFT team in the Junior Department prepared and led this special service and in the Infants, Y2 led the service. In both services the children read beautifully.
Feast of All Saints- 1st November 2023
The school gathered to celebrate Mass. The GIFT team prepared the bidding prayers for the mass as we thought about and celebrated the lives of the church's saints.
Harvest Festival - 18th October 2023
The school gathered in church to celebrate the harvest festival. This celebration was led by the schools GIFT Team (Growing in Faith Together ). During this collective worship, we thanked God for the harvest and thought about our roles as stewards of God's creation. The food that was collected for the celebration was donated to the Lalley Centre who support children and familes across Salford Diocese.
Holy Rosary Collective Worship- 6th October 2023
Year 3D led a beautiful collective worship for the school and their familes. The month of October is dedicated to the Rosary and year 3D led us in prayer as we said the Rosary together.
World Peace Day- 21st September
Year 5H led the junior department and their familes in a collective worship for World Peace Day.
Our Lady's Birthday - 8th September 2023
We all gathered together for a beautiful prayer service to celebrate Our Lady's birthday. Year 6 led us in prayer and song. We presented birthday cards and flowers to Mary.
World Earth Day 2023
Class 3B led KS2 and their parents in a beautiful collective worship. They reflected on the Pope's message- Laudato Si . We thought about Earth Day and how we can tackle the environmental challenges facing our planet.
Easter Play 2023
Year 2 led us through the events of Palm Sunday, Maundy Thursday, Good Friday and Easter Sunday.
Stations of the Cross 2023
Year 6 led KS2 and parents in the Stations of the Cross Liturgy. It was an important part of Holy Week leading up to the Triduum.
GIFT Team Collective Worship
The GIFT led a Lenten collective worship in the KS2 classes. They planned it themselves and created a PowerPoint to share.
Lent 2023
Year 4S led a special collective worship for the start of our Lenten journey. The children helped us to think about how we can give, act and pray during this special season.
The Epiphany 6th January 2023
The whole school celebrated Mass with the Parish. We listened to the Gospel about the Three Kings visit to Baby Jesus after his birth. Early Years visited the Crib in Church.
Christmas 2022
Year 2 performed the Christmas Story for all the children in the school and their parents. It helped us to understand the true meaning of Christmas.
Advent 2022
To mark the start of Advent we had two special liturgies. The children in KS2 were led in a beautiful collective worship by our GIFT team. Year 1 led a special liturgy for the Infant Department and their parents.
Remembrance and All Souls -November
November is the month in which we pray for departed Holy Souls and celebrate Remembrance Sunday. The children in the Junior Department gathered in Mount Carmel Church for a special service led by Year 6. In the Infant Department, children gathered in the hall for a special liturgy led by our Year 2 children. Through prayer, scripture and reflection we explored why it is important to remember.
Friday 7th October- Feast Day of the Holy Rosary
Year 3D led a beautiful collective worship on the feast day of the Holy Rosary. They invited their parents to join this beautiful worship and they prayed the Rosary together. They explained how the whole of October is dedicated to the Rosary and that the Rosary is a devotion in honour of the Virgin Mary.
Welcome Reception- Thursday 29th September 2022
Reception led a beautiful assembly. They taught their parents and carers our school prayer and said a great big welcome to the new Mount Carmel Family.
International Day of Peace- 21st September 2022.
Class 5H led us in a special collective worship thinking about peace on earth. Year 5 parents joined us for this worship.
Celebrating Our Lady's Birthday - 8th September 2022
We gathered in church as a school to celebrate Our Lady's Birthday. After the liturgy we went back to school and celebrated with birthday cake.
Crowning Our Lady- May 2022
We gathered for a special collective worship to celebrate Our Lady. We crowned Our Lady and presented her with flowers.

Prayers for Peace and Ukraine - March 2022
We gathered as a whole school family in church to pray for peace. We prayed for the people of Ukraine and for all those suffering and afraid.
Ash Wednesday - 2nd March 2022
We started Lent with a beautiful collective worship. We thought about ways we can look to God, look to others and look to ourselves this Lent.
Advent 2021
Each week in Advent we sang Christmas songs for our school community to enjoy.
Remembrance Day- November 2021
On Remembrance day this year, Y6 led the collective Worship to remember all those lost in war. They laid a wreath on the Parish War Memorial and spent time in quiet contemplation and prayer.
