Investigating How Microorganisms Reproduce

Lesson: Science

Class: Year 6C Year: 2023 - 2024

Microorganisms Investigation 2023 b.jpg

We have had a great time investigating how microorganisms reproduce.

On the 4th September, we squashed dry and wet hands into slices of bread and placed them in different environments e.g. warm, dark and freezing cold areas. Then we timed how long it would take for the microorganisms to develop and become visible.

On 15th September, our investigation finished and the results were shocking, as you can see from the pictures!

We proved that microorganisms reproduce the quickest in environments that are warm, wet and dark but do not develop in temperatures below 0°C.
