Reception W 2022 - 2023

Mrs Walley

Mrs Seaborn

Welcome to Reception W- Owl Class

In the EYFS we challenge children to become independent learners and critcial thinkers through our continuous provision and targeted learning challenges. We are very excited to share all the amazing things we do in school with you. Please check out our page for regular updates and photos.

Welcome to Reception W where a love of learning is at the heart of everything we do! The teacher in our classroom is Mrs Walley (Monday- Thursday) and Mrs Seaborn (Friday) .

We have the support of some fantastic teaching assistants, Mrs McGuinness, Mrs Ford, Miss Hibbert and Mrs Musgrove .

Our class saint is St. Joseph, he was the husband of Mary, the mother of Jesus. St Joseph was a carpenter or woodworker. The Gospel of Matthew calls him a “righteous man,” meaning he was an observant Jew who obeyed God's law. On St Joseph's feast day the children in Reception will dress up as people who help us in our community.

DEAR Time

In Reception we encourage a love of reading. Each day we have dedicated story time ~ DEAR time ~  we Drop Everything we are doing And Read one of our favourite five texts selected for the half term.

Lending Library

Each Friday your child will be able to choose a book from our lending library that they can share with you at home.

Reading Books

You will be able to access a book on your child's Collins Ebook account every Monday. This book will also be shared in your child's guided reading session three times a week developing their fluency and comprehension.

Owl of the Week

Each Friday a child is chosen to take Ollie the Owl home for the weekend. We encourage parents to take photos of what your child and Ollie have been doing over the weekend and add them to Ollie's adventure book. They are then shared with the class during Monday morning snack and chat time.

Below are copies of our word boxes and high frequency words.
Use your flashcards to make and read the words in the word boxes.
Practise reading and writing the high frequency words. There's a lot on the sheet so start with I, the, to and build up from there.
